NeoLao — AI dialogue, Tao Te Ching, meditation, and Mind Flow

AI transparency: NeoLao sends the data described below to OpenRouter and either Alibaba Cloud International or DeepInfra for AI inference, and to OpenAI only when optional voice generation is requested. NeoLao asks for explicit consent before any such transmission.

1. Data we collect

• Account data: email address, display name, internal user ID, authentication provider, language, and optional profile image.
• User content: chat messages, conversation history, feedback, optional feedback images, and Zen Garden posts.
• Progress and wellbeing data: chapter progress, favorites, meditation and breathing activity, Mind Flow stress scores, emotion labels, and generated reflections.
• Purchase data: App Store or Google Play product, transaction identifiers, subscription status, and expiration information. NeoLao does not receive or store payment-card details.
• Operational data: request timing, quota usage, security events, and limited diagnostic logs needed to operate and protect the service.

2. How data is collected and used

Data is received when you create an account, enter content, use app features, make an in-app purchase, or contact support. We use it to authenticate accounts, synchronize progress, provide purchased features, answer conversations, create Mind Flow reports, generate optional audio, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and comply with legal obligations.

3. AI processing and recipients

Before an AI feature is used, NeoLao displays an in-app disclosure and requires an unchecked affirmative consent box. If you consent:

• OpenRouter and Alibaba Cloud International: receive the text you enter and relevant recent conversation excerpts for Flash Đàm Đạo inference. This route is pinned to Alibaba Cloud International.
• OpenRouter and DeepInfra: receive the text needed for 32B Vấn Đạo inference and—when Mind Flow is opened—up to seven days of recent conversation text. This route is pinned to DeepInfra with Zero Data Retention and data collection denial enabled.
• Model fallback: Vấn Đạo normally uses 32B and falls back to Flash after retryable failures; Đàm Đạo normally uses Flash and falls back to 32B after retryable failures. This behavior is identical for Guest, Free, Premium, and Admin accounts. Provider fallback remains disabled, so each model stays with its disclosed provider.
• OpenAI: receives generated response text only when you request voice playback. OpenAI converts that text to audio.

NeoLao does not attach your name, email, password, payment data, or internal account ID to AI inference requests. Content you type may itself contain personal information. Do not enter unnecessary sensitive information.

4. Other service providers

Apple and Google process sign-in and in-app purchases under their own policies. Hosting, database, email, and infrastructure processors may handle data only to operate NeoLao. We require providers that receive NeoLao user data to apply protection equivalent to this policy and applicable law. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for cross-app advertising tracking.

5. Retention

• Inactive chat sessions are normally retained for up to 30 days for free accounts and 90 days for Premium accounts.
• Support feedback is normally retained for up to 60 days.
• Generated TTS cache files are normally retained on the server for up to 2 days; local device caches remain until removed by the app or user.
• Account, progress, Mind Flow, and subscription-entitlement data is retained while the account exists, unless a shorter legal or operational period applies.
• Security and diagnostic records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, or law.

6. Your choices, account deletion, and rights

You may decline AI consent and continue using non-AI features. In the app, open Profile → Privacy & AI to review or withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops new AI transmissions. You may delete individual chat history or initiate permanent account deletion at Profile → Delete Account.

Public deletion request: If you no longer have the app, visit the NeoLao account deletion page. Account deletion removes the NeoLao account and associated data that we are not legally required to retain. Deleting a NeoLao account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; subscriptions must be managed in the relevant store.

7. Security and international processing

NeoLao uses encrypted network transport, access controls, scoped credentials, and other reasonable safeguards. Data may be processed in countries where NeoLao or its processors operate, subject to applicable safeguards.

8. Children

NeoLao is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data without appropriate authorization, contact us for deletion.

9. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when features or providers change. Material changes to AI recipients or purposes will require a new in-app consent. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to support@neolaozi.com.
